On-the-job-training (OJT) used to be very popular in this country.  In the last decade or so, OJT was difficult because of all the technology growth.  It was hard enough for existing employees to keep up, much less train anyone else in an environment that was changing by the minute.  OJT gave way to classroom instruction.

Luckily, we are seeing a growth in OJT today, especially in the form of internship programs – paid and unpaid.  As a paid intern you can earn money while learning and preparing for your desired career.  Some internships even provide financial assistance for your future education.
